As part of the Semiquincentennial celebration, the program was kicked off by our Select Choir, who proudly performed the National Anthem.
Students learned about the events of December 5, 1775, when Henry Knox began transporting artillery from Fort Ticonderoga to support the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Students examined cannonballs of various sizes, volunteered to pull a sled carrying a cannon, and observed oxen while learning how they are trained and the important role they played in transporting artillery through the harsh winter conditions.
A huge thank you to the Fort Ticonderoga team the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Kortright-Torres for providing this incredible opportunity for our students. Experiences like these help make history memorable, meaningful, and fun for learners of all ages!

Dear Taconic Hills Families, Staff, and Community,
Beginning June 1, 2026, Taconic Hills CSD will begin important capital improvement projects across our campus. These upgrades represent a significant investment in our facilities and reflect our commitment to maintaining spaces that serve our students, staff, and community well into the future. We are excited that voters approved this work in May 2025 and look forward to the long-term benefits these improvements will bring.
We want to emphasize that both the Fitness Center and Aquatic Center will remain open for community use and summer programming. Our goal throughout this process is to keep as many facilities accessible as possible, especially to support summer school and community use.
Please note that the Track & Field facility will be closed from June 1 through September 1 due to scheduled construction.
Depending on construction activity and safety requirements, the following areas may also experience temporary closures or limited access at various points throughout the summer:
• Tennis Courts
• Pickleball Courts
• Outdoor Basketball Court
• Playground
Construction may impact traffic patterns and campus access at times. If you are visiting the Aquatic Center or other open areas, please pay close attention to posted signage and district updates, as temporary detours or adjusted entry points may be necessary.
We understand that this may cause some inconvenience, and we truly appreciate your patience and flexibility. We are committed to keeping the community informed and will provide updates if construction begins to impact access more significantly.
This work is about more than our buildings or school grounds. It’s about ensuring our campus remains a safe, welcoming, and high-quality place for students, families, and community members to gather for years to come.
We appreciate everyone’s patience, flexibility, and support as we complete these important improvements. Additional updates will be shared throughout the summer as construction progresses.
Thank you,
Lynnette Brunger, Superintendent of Schools
Nick Smith, Director of Facilities
