REMINDER!
Registration for Pre-K and Kindergarten for the upcoming school year is open! If you have a child who will be turning 4 or 5 on or before December 1, 2026, it’s time to start the registration process at Taconic Hills. Don't wait to register, as there are a lot of opportunities to connect with the school prior to the start of the year in September.
📌 Pre-K Registration
Children who will be 4 years old on or before December 1, 2026 are eligible to register for Pre-K.
📌 Kindergarten Registration
Children who will be 5 years old on or before December 1, 2026, (and are not already enrolled in Taconic Hills Pre-K program) are eligible to register for Kindergarten.
There will also be a Parent Night on Tuesday, April 14th from 5PM-6PM, where you will meet Principal Backlund, connect with the teachers, and see the classrooms!

The Taconic Hills Central School District is seeking candidates for three open seats on its Board of Education.
This year, there are two (2) five-year terms commencing July 1, 2026 and expiring June 30, 2031. These terms will succeed Board Members Bonnie Torchia and Margaret Hallisey, whose current terms expire on June 30, 2026. In addition, there is one (1) one-year term commencing May 20, 2026 and expiring June 20, 2027, to succeed Board Member Kevin Maisenbacher.
Serving as a board member is more than attending meetings. It means being active in the school community, attending district events, and committing at least two evenings per month to district responsibilities.
Candidate petitions are due by April 20, 2026, and the election will take place May 19, 2026, during the annual budget vote.
To be eligible, candidates must:
- Be a qualified voter of the district, at least 18 years old, and a U.S. citizen.
- Have been a district resident for at least one year.
- Not be a current district employee or hold another incompatible public office.
Board members guide the district by monitoring student progress, evaluating the superintendent, ensuring policies support district goals, and fulfilling governance responsibilities.

This year, the district introduced the Silver Bowl Ceremony, a celebration recognizing seniors who have earned High Honor Roll for every quarter from 9th through 12th grade. Each student receiving this distinction was presented with a real silver-plated bowl, engraved with their name and graduation year. To highlight the importance of mentorship and connection between students ans staff, the award was presented by a teacher or staff member who has made a significant impact on their journey.
This honor is intentionally designed to be difficult to achieve, preserving its prestige, significance, and lasting impact.

You are invited to our annual Elementary Learning Fair!
When? Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 4:30PM to 6:30PM
Where? Elementary Library
Be sure to join us for a fun filled night of learning! In addition to viewing some amazing projects, you will have many opportunities to participate in some fantastic activities with your children while having some YUMMY treats! Our principals will be scooping up ice cream for Make Your Sundaes and the PTO is bringing back the Kettle Corn Truck!
Our art, music, technology and STREAM teachers will be here, ready to guide you in some awesome experiments and projects!
Come make a kazoo, beaded bracelets, travel games or try out some cool new technology! Check out the Titan Voyager as well!

Finally, we are excited to share that the Class of 2026 Graduation Ceremony will take place on Friday, June 26 at 6:00 PM in the Lyle G. Hamm Performing Arts Center. We look forward to celebrating this special milestone with our graduates and their families.

A big congratulations to 10th grader Kameryn, whose Field Day photograph was selected as a Runner-Up in the “Our Roots” category, celebrating the foundation of rural life, including landscapes, traditions, school pride, and the close ties that define a community.
This is a wonderful accomplishment and a great example of the creativity and talent within our school community.

Thank you to our drivers, as well as our drivers at Johnston Transportation, for all you do "behind the scenes" for our students' success!
The evening will feature artwork from all grade levels, hands-on projects from Technology, Agriculture, and Family and Consumer Sciences, and a special performance from the Music Department.
Stop by before or after voting to explore, support our students, and enjoy the showcase!
Four designs were selected as winners and have been finalized for printing. These stickers will be handed out to voters at the May 19, 2026 budget vote and board member election.
