Significant progress has been made throughout the summer, and many of the major components of the project are nearing completion.
Roofing: Roofing work will be substantially complete by the start of school. Some smaller portions of the project will continue into the beginning of the school year as crews complete the remaining work.
Athletic Track and Field Complex: The new turf field will be ready for use; however, the track will remain closed during the beginning of September. The newly installed asphalt must be allowed adequate time to cure before the final rubberized track surface can be applied. The track and field complex will remain closed to the public while this work is being completed. We appreciate everyone's patience while this important final step is completed, and we will communicate when the area is ready for use again.
Flooring: Flooring replacement throughout the building continues to progress. The new flooring in the Performing Arts Center lobby will be complete by the start of school. Flooring replacement in the atrium areas will continue during the school year, with this work scheduled during times when school is not in session to minimize disruption to students and staff.
Daycare Area: Renovations to the daycare area are moving along well. The majority of the structural and infrastructure work is complete, and crews are now focused on finishes, including painting, tilework, ceiling installation, doors, and other final details. The renovated space is taking shape and we are excited about the prospect of offering on-site daycare.
Masonry Restoration: Masonry restoration work will continue as the school year progresses. This work will be coordinated to minimize disruptions to students, staff, and normal school operations.
As we transition from summer construction into the school year, some project work will continue throughout the campus. Contractors will work closely with the District to coordinate schedules, maintain safe work areas, and minimize the impact on daily school operations.
We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our students, staff, families, and community throughout the summer construction season. We are excited to see these improvements taking shape and look forward to completing the remaining work during the coming weeks and months.

Attention Families of Students in Grades 7–9,
We need your help to keep our Modified Fall Athletics programs on the field this season!
At this time, Modified Field Hockey, Girls Soccer, and Football are at risk of not having enough registered student-athletes to field a team.
If your child has ever thought about trying one of these sports, now is the perfect time to give it a shot! No prior experience is necessary, and they may discover a sport they love while building new skills, making friends, and being part of a team.
Having enough participation at the modified level is important not only for the students who are eager to play this season, but also for the continued growth and development of our JV and Varsity programs in the years ahead.
We need additional students registered by this Friday, August 21st. If participation numbers remain too low, a final decision regarding these teams will need to be made, and affected families will be notified.
Register your student here: https://students.arbitersports.com/programs/taconic-hills-athletics-registration-2026-fall-season
Please contact Josh Piper, Athletic Director, at JPiper@taconichills.k12.ny.us with any questions or concerns.

Dear Grades 7-12 Students and Families,

Varsity tryouts begin August 17th for Varsity Football . Tryouts begin August 24th for all other Varsity Sports plus Modified Football. All other Modified sports begin August 31st.
Any 7th or 8th grade student, interested in playing at the Varsity level, must go through the Athletic Placement Process. Please contact the Athletic Director asap for the necessary forms.
Student-athletes are required to have a current health physical on file prior to the start of the season. Physicals must be dated 8/1/2025 or later to be current. If your student is in need of an updated physical, they will be given tomorrow, August 12th, in the HS Nurses Office from 8AM to 10AM.
Please contact Josh Piper, Athletic Director, at JPiper@taconichills.k12.ny.us with any questions or concerns.

Construction continues to make great progress across the Taconic Hills campus this summer. Crews are actively completing flooring repairs, roofing improvements, interior renovations, and work on our new track and synthetic turf field. Each of these projects is an important investment in maintaining safe, modern, and high-quality facilities for our students, staff, and community.
Summer construction is always a busy time, and our contractors, architects, facilities staff, and project managers continue to work diligently to keep projects on schedule while preparing our buildings for students' return this fall.
Campus Reminders:
- Tennis Courts: The tennis courts are not accessible Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. while Summer School is in session.
- Elementary Playground: The elementary playground remains closed while roofing work continues on the elementary wing. Please respect all posted signage and construction barriers for the safety of our students, families, and contractors.
Construction may impact traffic patterns and campus access at times. If you are visiting the Aquatic Center or other open areas, please pay close attention to posted signage and district updates, as temporary detours or adjusted entry points may be necessary.
We sincerely appreciate the patience and support of our students, families, staff, and community throughout this process. These improvements are vital to the future of Taconic Hills, and we are incredibly grateful to our community for voting to support these projects. Your investment allows us to continue enhancing our facilities and creating learning environments that will benefit students for generations to come.
We look forward to sharing additional updates as construction progresses and to welcoming everyone back for another great school year!
Sincerely,
Lynnette Brunger, Superintendent of Schools
Nick Smith, Director of Facilities
