Pool Rules

  1. All patrons must sign in at the desk before entering pool.

  2. Children under 12 must have an adult present at pool & fitness center.

  3. Children under 6 must have an adult in the water with them. Lifeguard can make exceptions to allow parent poolside if safety permits.

  4. Lifeguard/supervisor has responsibility and authority to remove swimmers or patrons from pool area for failure to follow rules.

  5. A complete shower is required before entering pool.

  6. No swimmers will enter water until person in charge has given permission.

  7. No gum chewing or wearing jewelry.

  8. No jumping off shallow end or sides of pool. Jumping allowed only at deep end when diving lanes are not in use.

  9. No hanging on pool lane lines.

  10. No 2 piece bathing suits.

  11. Bathing suits required. No cut offs or t-shirts.

  12. No swimmies (arm flotation devices) allowed.

  13. No equipment, balls, mats or recreation equipment unless approved by lifeguard.

  14. Respect the rights of other swimmers.

  15. Respect the property of other swimmers. THCSD is not responsible for any items lost or damaged.

  16. Lanes designated for lap swimming must be used accordingly.

  17. Children must pass the water safety test before entering deep water.

  18. No running, pushing, dunking, splashing or horseplay.

  19. Glass containers are not allowed in the pool complex.

  20. Smoking or alcohol is not permitted anywhere on school grounds.

  21. Persons appearing under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or have used alcohol or drugs, or not alert are not permitted to swim.

  22. Persons with open wounds or infectious skin conditions must check with the lifeguard.

  23. No band aids are permitted in the pool.

  24. No urinating, discharge of fecal matter, spitting, expectorant or blowing your nose in the pool.

  25. Shoes are not permitted on pool deck.

  26. No diving off starting blocks except during swim meets and practices.

  27. All patrons must comply with community and private rental agreements.

Life Guard commands:

  1. Long Blast with whistle: Guard wants everyone out of pool immediately
    2 Short Blasts with whistle: Guard wants swimmers attention

Rules for Parents of Young Children:

  1. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult while they are at the pool.

  2. Children under 5 must have an adult in the pool with them.

  3. Children need to take a swim test in order to go in the deep end each time.

  4. Female Children/Adults over the age of nine must wear a one piece bathing suit in the pool.

  5. Parents with young children over the age of two may use a separate location to change their child.

  6. Women cannot bring in boys over the age of two in the girl's locker room.

  7. Men cannot bring in girls over the age of two in the men's locker room.

  8. The pool will be cleared about 10 to 15 minutes before closing so people can change.

  9. Everyone must clearly print/write their name on the sign in sheet.  This is for safety reasons.

  10. No pool toys.

  11. No jumping or diving in the shallow end of the pool.

Patrons interested in Reserving the Pool Please provide a copy of the rules to your guest; this ensures a safe and prepared experience.

Fitness Center Rules

  1. Complete and have on file all paper work associated with the American College of Sports Medicine pre-activity screening.

  2. Orientation by the Fitness Assistant must be completed before using the Fitness Center.

  3. Children must be in grade seven or above to use the Fitness Center except in connection with a Taconic Hills Physical Education class. Students in grade seven are required to have orientation in Physical Education class before using the fitness center.

  4. Taconic Hills Pool & Fitness Center reserves the right to withdraw or suspend user privileges either temporarily or permanently from any individual or family member who, in management's opinion, has conducted themselves in a manner detrimental to the legitimate interests of the Taconic Hills Central School District .

  5. Except for the use of water bottles, eating or drinking is not permitted.

  6. Use of personal audio equipment with headphones is permissible. Individuals may not play audio equipment so that it is audible to other patrons. Airing of any room-wide music or other programs will be at the sole discretion of the Fitness Center Attendant.

  7. Observe proper lifting techniques. If unsure, ask the Fitness Center Assistant. Please note that the Fitness Center Assistants are not certified physical trainers.

  8. Collars must be used with all free weights.

  9. All weights should be neatly stacked after use.

  10. Re-rack and reset all weights and machines and properly wipe down equipment after use.

  11. Use sign-in procedures for cardiovascular equipment and limit your workout to 20 minutes.

  12. Wear proper attire: shirts, pants or shorts, and sneakers. Bare feet, thongs or sandals are prohibited.

  13. All workouts are at the users own risk.

  14. In case of fire alarm or power failure, EVERYONE MUST LEAVE THE BUILDING IMMEDIATELY and report to the tennis court area to ensure that all individuals are accounted for. The Receptionist will utilize sign in records to ensure that all individuals have exited the building.

  15. Taconic Hills Pool & Fitness Center reserves the right to add, alter or rescind from time to time such rules and regulations, as it deems necessary. Such changes shall take effect immediately after posting.

  16. Every effort will be made to accommodate the Pool & Fitness Center regular schedule of use; however, there will be instances (special events and athletic events) in which part or all of the Pool & Fitness Center will be used for School District purposes. Changes will normally be posted in advance of these instances.

  17. In order to support your health and well being, non-therapeutic drugs and alcohol are strictly prohibited.

  18. Smoking is strictly prohibited on the Taconic Hills campus, including all grounds.

  19. Taconic Hills' property, including towels, must remain within the Aquatic Center area. Fees will be assessed for any lost or missing items.

  20. Private locks are allowed for day use only; they should not be left on a locker overnight.

  21. Taconic Hills cannot be held responsible for loss of valuables.

  22. A Fitness Assistant must be on duty at all times during Community Use periods.

  23. Taconic Hills employees may not use the Fitness Center during their workday.
