Dear Taconic Hills Families,
We are excited to welcome our families and students to Taconic Hills Central School District for the 2026-2027 school year. To our returning families, Welcome Back, and to those joining our school community for the first time, we are so glad you are here. The learning, growth and meaningful connections of this year are upon us and we look forward to their promise.
As a district, we continue to focus on three priority areas: Academic Excellence, School Culture and Operations. Our commitment to a welcoming, inclusive and engaging environment continues. A key priority is the safety, health and well-being of our students and staff. We know that if our students and adults feel safe, physically and mentally, then learning and development happen for everyone. At Taconic Hills, we believe every day, in every way, everyone counts!
Taconic Hill’s theme for the year is “Small Habits, Big Impact.” It is a reminder that small consistent practices we build into our daily routines can lead to success, build confidence and positively impact individuals and those around them. A small habit that has a big impact is attending school on a regular basis. When your child attends school daily the rewards include increased academic achievement, developing meaningful relationships and a sense of ownership in their growth and accomplishments.
NYS Portrait of a Graduate encourages critical thinking and communicating effectively, especially through writing. Our commitment is to having classrooms where students are actively engaged, collaborate and contribute to their learning and their peers. We know that “whoever is doing the work is doing the learning.”
Beyond the classroom, students have many ways to get involved and explore their interests. Our extracurricular clubs, sports teams, and before- and after-school programs provide opportunities for students to grow, build friendships, and develop new skills beyond the school
As we start the school year here’s what you can expect:
• NYS Portrait of a Graduate as a tool to guide instruction and student growth
• Introduction of a new literacy program, starting with grades 4-8 to strengthen students’ literacy skills and confidence
• Use of Thrillshare Rooms for ongoing messaging with the school and teachers
• Consistent updated information on our website and the Friday Folder
• Updates on the construction progress to maintain a safe, beautiful campus
• Mark your calendars for our Open House on Thursday September 17 from 5:30-7:30 PM
• Lastly, we strongly encourage you to purchase laptop insurance for your child’s laptop. It is available for purchase through October and, ultimately, saves you money when there is damage.
