Fort Ticonderoga

Last Thursday, educators from Fort Ticonderoga visited Taconic Hills to bring the American Revolution to life for our students!

As part of the Semiquincentennial celebration, the program was kicked off by our Select Choir, who proudly performed the National Anthem.

Students learned about the events of December 5, 1775, when Henry Knox began transporting artillery from Fort Ticonderoga to support the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Students examined cannonballs of various sizes, volunteered to pull a sled carrying a cannon, and observed oxen while learning how they are trained and the important role they played in transporting artillery through the harsh winter conditions.

A huge thank you to the Fort Ticonderoga team the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Kortright-Torres for providing this incredible opportunity for our students. Experiences like these help make history memorable, meaningful, and fun for learners of all ages!
