On Wednesday, November 19th, the Taconic Hills Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of Jeffrey Simons as Interim Jr/Sr High School Principal at its monthly meeting. This appointment follows the recent separation of Dr. Michael Teator from the District.
Mr. Simons brings a deep understanding of education and a passion for student success to Taconic Hills. He retired this past June after serving the last eighteen years as a Superintendent, with nine years in East Greenbush CSD and nine years in Rome City SD for nine years prior. During Mr. Simons’s tenure in East Greenbush, the district saw significant achievements, including raising the district graduation rate to 95 percent, being recognized as a Times Union Top Workplace three times, and being named the Times Union Best School District winner for two consecutive years. Since retiring, Mr. Simons remains fully engaged in education, serving as an interim administrator in East Greenbush and taking on leadership coaching work with other districts in the Capital Region.
Known as a seasoned, personable, and highly collaborative leader, Mr. Simons comes to Taconic Hills with a focus on observing the district closely, identifying needs, and addressing them thoughtfully and strategically. He aims to build strong, positive relationships with students and staff while supporting the district’s strategic plan commitments in academic excellence, school environment, and operations.
Throughout the year, Mr. Simons will work closely with Jr/Sr High Assistant Principal Mrs. Darby Dellea and all building administrators to ensure a shared vision for Taconic Hills.
Mr. Simons’ leadership will play a key role in helping the district move forward, and we are excited for the growth the remainder of the school year will bring. Welcome Mr. Simons to the Titan Community!
