Science Research Symposium

On June 1st, Taconic Hills High School will be hosting its 15th annual Science Research Symposium. The event is open to the public via Zoom. Senior researchers Annika Johanson and Megan Savage will be presenting their final research projects on Lyme Disease and Restless Leg Syndrome, respectively. Both researchers were successful in competition at the Greater Capital Region Science and Engineering Fair, with Annika Johanson receiving the Linda Austin DNA Science and Technology Award and Megan Savage receiving the Momentive Performance Materials Award. Megan Savage also placed second in the Biomedical Sciences category at the Sub-Regional Junior Science and Humanities Symposium competition.

Junior researcher Kristopher Gardella will be presenting his research proposal on a possible relationship between vaping and gambling severity in different age groups. Dr. Sandra Gardner, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, has been selected to be this year’s keynote speaker; she will be discussing her doctoral research on rural schools’ science research programs.
