Cookie's First Day

Linda Miller retired on December 31st after 31 years of service as the District Treasurer with the district.  For the past several years, she has been volunteering her time on campus with her therapy dog, Cookie, a golden retriever, who is a huge hit among our students and staff.

When Linda announced her retirement last year, the Superintendent, Dr. Neil Howard, saw an opportunity to bring Linda and Cookie on staff in a part-time capacity to continue their important work of providing social and emotional support to students.

With the approval of the Board of Education, beginning today, January 2nd, Linda and Cookie will be on campus approximately 25 hours per week working with students and staff.

Cookie holds a number of titles and certifications:  American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen, Canine Good Citizen Advanced, and Therapy Dog; AKC Beginner Obedience Novice and Rally Obedience Novice; Performance/“Sport” Titles of Barn Hunt Instinct and Barn Hunt Novice.  Cookie is currently training and competing in AKC Companion Dog Title, Rally Obedience Intermediate Title, Barn Hunt Open Title, Scent Work Novice Title, and Advanced Obedience.
